Original presentation: Turrilites acutus

Original publication: Passy. 1832. [p. 334, pl. 16, figs 3, 4].

Lectotype: “The original of Passy (1832, pl. 16, fig. 3) designated by Juignet and Kennedy (1976, p. 65)” (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a, p. 145).

Type locality: Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a).

Type horizon: “middle Cenomanian Rouen Fossil Bed of Côte Ste Catherine” (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a, p. 145).

Other specimens: USNM 420301-420313, OUM KT 2058.

Other occurrences: “western and eastern Europe, the USSR, North Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Zululand, Madagascar and Mozambique” (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a, p. 146).

Zonation: Acanthoceras amphibolum zone (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a); Acanthoceras bellense zone (Kennedy and Cobban, 1990a).
